Influenza (the Flu) is a serious illness affecting millions of Americans, of which about 250,000 are hospitalized each year. Of those, about 36,000 people, mostly over age 65, die each year from complications.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone 6 months and above get a flu shot. The vaccine is typically covered by your insurance plan (contact your provider for details).
AFC Urgent Care can help even if you are unfortunate enough to come down with the Flu. A simple test, with results available in minutes, will tell us whether you have the flu or a common cold. We can prescribe medication that will diminish the severity and shorten the duration of flu symptoms.
Even if you have no symptoms but have been exposed to someone with the Flu there is medication that can prevent you from developing the actual illness.
If you develop flu symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches and pains) or have been exposed to someone with the flu, come in for a consultation as soon as possible. In either case treatment should begin within 48 hours.
You can walk in to AFC Urgent Care Waltham/Burlington Urgent Care any day of the week, from 8am to 8pm, for your seasonal flu vaccination, and take the steps to protect your health!
